Iowa Joins the Shall-Issue Club

This makes 3 states with no CCW permit required and 37 shall-issue states. Progress.

Coexist Indeed

Can’t we all just get along…..

H/T to Say Uncle, who finds the neatest things.

Senate Bill 1108, the Constitutional Carry Law, Passes the Legislature and is Off to the Governor

Gov. Brewer is expected to sign this as her office worked with legislators to adjust the wording at several points. This would make Arizona the 3rd state in the US to allow both open and concealed carry (with some place restrictions, of course) without a permit. This brings the law into line with the very clear wording of the Arizona Constitution:

Article 2, Section 26  – “The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself or the state shall not be impaired.”

I Have a Visceral Attachment to This Song

Due to its playing multiple times during my pledge period, especially Hell Week,  at a now-defunct fraternity. That was an interesting time. 1984, hazing was not only not forbidden but commonplace – we sent a couple of people to the hospital with at least one case of alcohol poisoning. It wasn’t even thought of as that bad at the time.

Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see…

[chorus]:

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.

I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it’s too late, and…

[Chorus]

The game of life is hard to play
I’m gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I’ll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.

[Chorus]

The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I’m beat
and to another give my seat
for that’s the only painless feat.

[Chorus]

MASH
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn’t hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger…watch it grin, but…

[Chorus]

A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
‘is it to be or not to be’
and I replied ‘oh why ask me?’

‘Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
…and you can do the same thing if you choose.

What is Entertaining about TUF: Lidell vs. Ortiz is…

All of the 28 initial participants are MUCH better technically when it comes to a well-rounded game than either Tito or Chuck (when did either of the pull off a Sode Tsurikomi Goshi (sub-parenthetical insert: I don’t like how the Kodokan plays around with allowed throws, or how they classify them, but that’s another rant) using an underhook instead of a sleeve lift?).

Irony, I think I see it. TBH though, truth be told either Chuck or Tito would probably drop any of these kids; caveat to that is I don’t think either Chuck or Tito could survive in their weight class today.

And why, oh why, is Renzo Gracie fighting on TV? He’s got nothing to prove. He’s even from the good Gracie line *g*.
