Assaults on campuses continue to steadily rise. But we wouldn’t want people to be able to protect themselves, now would we.

    Misleading.
    1 Method of violence only includes weapons, and doesn’t include fists. There are more fistfights than there are strangulations, I am sure.
    2 The percentages are of course going to increase. There are many times more colleges now than there were in the 1920s.

      The number of colleges has roughly doubled since 1950, true – but since 1970 the number jumped from 3,000-ish to 4,500-ish while directed assaults have more than doubled so those numbers don’t correlate well at all. I’d need more statistics to even try and evaluate your first point.
